Review: Port Orleans Riverside Resort

Image
This is one of our favorite places to stay.  As a "moderate" Disney resort, the rates are very reasonable.  Combined with the theming and amenities, the value is excellent.  The grounds are beautiful, there are great non-theme park entertainment choices, and multiple dining options.  Plus, as a family of five, this moderate resort will accommodate us in one room! Disney's Animal Kingdom Backstage Tales Tour

Image
https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/events-tours/animal-kingdom/backstage-tales/ My oldest daughter and I took this tour and we thoroughly enjoyed it.  We are both animal lovers and are the people who animals just naturally gravitate toward.  This tour is not for everyone.  Even when we just finished, I had mixed feelings on it.  The turning point for me was when we walked through the park for the rest of the day and the facts that we had learned and then shared with the rest of the family kept coming out!  It was so apparent that we had learned so much that morning!

Port Orleans Beignet Dash Fun Run

Image
For those who run/jog/walk and are staying at the Disney's Port Orleans Resorts, there is a fun little event held every Sunday morning called "The Beignet Dash Fun Run."  It is "Held every Sunday at 8:00am.  Join us on Sunday Runday for a quick dash around the Resort.  Finish your race with a tasty beignet!  Check-in begins at 7:30 at Disney's Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter on the Riverwalk between building 5 and the Doubloon Lagoon Pool.  $15 Plus tax."

YeeHaa Bob

Image
YeeHaw Bob plays in the lounge of the Port Orleans Riverside resort.  This is one of my all-time favorite things to do outside of the theme parks!  I would encourage you to go out of your way to see him entertain.  All five of us went to Bob's show on 6/30/17.  Some of us were a little more excited about it than others, but by the end of the evening we all agree that we had an outstanding time!

Hidden Mickeys

Image
We love to find and re-find Hidden Mickeys.  Their origin traces back to the design of EPCOT in the 1970's and 80's and the intent to include alcohol sales in that park.  Disney characters in the presence of alcohol????  What if a future employer sees a picture on social media?  The shame!
